Carlos J. Vega

Division Chief Carlos Vega brings over 17 years of dedicated service in fire and emergency operations to the Monterey County Regional Fire District. His expertise spans fire suppression, prevention, emergency medical response, personnel development, and interagency coordination.
Born in Zamora, Michoacán, Mexico, and raised in Greenfield, California, Carlos is a graduate of King City High School and the oldest of seven siblings—two of whom also serve in the fire service. He began his career with the Greenfield Fire Protection District and steadily rose through the ranks, serving as Captain with the City of Greenfield and later as Division Chief/Fire Marshal for the City of Marina.
Carlos holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University and dual Associate of Science degrees in Fire Technology and Administration of Justice from Monterey Peninsula College. He has also studied at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He is a certified California State Fire Marshal Chief Officer, Firefighter I and II Instructor, Safety Officer, Fire Inspector, and State Examination Evaluator.
Carlos resides in Salinas with his fiancée and two children. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, traveling, attending concerts, and visiting Southern California.
